Tricia Lemelle, M.D.
Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, PGY-5
MedStar Georgetown University Hospital
Steering Committee Resident Co-chair
I was born and raised in New Orleans where I graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana. I completed adult psychiatry training at Virginia Tech, and currently serve as chief fellow of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Georgetown. My work and interests are centered on improving health outcomes and disparities for traditionally marginalized and underserved populations through a systems-based lens.
I am delighted and humbled to serve as a fellow co-chair of the Steering Committee for MedStar Health’s Working Group for Racial Justice. As an under-represented minority physician, I am keenly aware of structural racism’s detrimental impact on both academic medicine and our surrounding communities. It is through creating inclusive policies, collaborative partnership, and community involvement that lasting equitable change is created. It is through this work that I am passionately committed. I am eager to unite with Georgetown faculty, trainees, and the local community to bring a voice to the most vulnerable through my service on the WGRJ.
